Minimal Hauschka

When I first heard Michael Mayer’s remix of Hauschka’s ‘Radar’, I literally felt my mind blow. It was so gripping, it made me wonder if I would ever be able to produce something as exquisite like that. Well, can’t blame a girl for trying!

For my edit of ‘Two AM’, I opted for a minimal techno sound and tried to keep the inherent urgency in the original by setting the bpm to 126. I used the backing piano riffs as the backbone of my edit and built the remix by adding a dancy bass line, glitchy sound bits, swirling synths and altered melodies.

I love post-classical music and one my favourite labels is the 130701 imprint of FatCat Records that is home to geniuses like Hauschka and Dustin O’Halloran. Even if classical’s not up your street, I hope you enjoy what I did!
